Source: Shodhganga: The significance of the mūla-beras (śilpa)Candikeśvar is the name of a deity depicted in the Subramanya Swamy Temple (or Subrahmaṇya Svāmi Temple) in Tiruchendur (or Tirucendur/Tirucentur), representing a sacred place for the worship of Murugan.—Candikeśvar is found sitting in sukhāsana posture with two hands. The right hand holds aṅkuśa in kaṭaka-hasta and the left hand holds the varada hasta. In dance, Candikeśvar is said to be in aindra-maṇḍala in araimandi. The two hands are in kapittha and patāka inverted in the right and the left hands.
