Source: archive.org: The Elephant Lore of the HindusCaturagamana (चतुरगमन) refers to a “quick moving elephant”, according to the 15th century Mātaṅgalīlā composed by Nīlakaṇṭha in 263 Sanskrit verses, dealing with elephantology in ancient India, focusing on the science of management and treatment of elephants.—[Cf. chapter 9, “on kinds of must”]: “14. With alternate oblique glances repeatedly looking to both sides, the elephant discharges must-fluid drop by drop from his rod-like penis. His mind is set on going backward (instead of forward as directed); he bellows loudly, with abundant (temporal) must-liquid; he dislikes the pillar (confinement), and is quick moving (caturagamana); thus he is observed to be as a result of the (third stage of must, called) ‘down-fixation’”.
