Deśānurūpā (देशानुरूपा) refers to one of the eighteen jātis: rules used in the playing of drums (puṣkara) [with reference to Mṛdaṅga, Paṇava and Dardura] according to the Nāṭyaśāstra chapter 33. Accordingly, “the deśānurūpā-jāti played in the aḍḍitā-mārga, is used in the Erotic Sentiment involving the enjoyment of love (śṛṅgāra). It should be performed in a slow tempo. Mī mathi thamabhū tthi kimā will be the syllables in deśānurūpā-jāti. It is to be used in the best Erotic Sentiment of women”.
