Sanskrit text and transliteration:
आनर्थक्यापनुत्त्यर्थमृतादीनां पुरा श्रुतिः ।
नियमार्थमिहोक्तिः स्यादात्मज्ञानोदयार्थिनः ॥ १६५ ॥
ānarthakyāpanuttyarthamṛtādīnāṃ purā śrutiḥ |
niyamārthamihoktiḥ syādātmajñānodayārthinaḥ || 165 ||
English translation of verse 1.165:
Earlier śruti spoke about ṛta, etc., in order to remove the notion of futility (about them). Here they are stated with a view to show that they have to be done by one who seeks the rise of Self-knowledge.
