Sanskrit text and transliteration:
अन्नादेव प्रजाः सर्वा जायन्तेऽन्नेन बृंहिताः ।
वर्धन्ते त्वन्नमेवैताः प्रविलीयन्ति सर्वशः ॥ २५७ ॥
annādeva prajāḥ sarvā jāyante'nnena bṛṃhitāḥ |
vardhante tvannamevaitāḥ pravilīyanti sarvaśaḥ || 257 ||
English translation of verse 2.257:
All beings are born, verily, from food. They grow through food. And they completely merge, indeed, in food.
