Sanskrit text and transliteration:

तद्रूपानुगमयान्नमयान्तं कार्यमाह हि ॥ ३९४ ॥

tadrūpānugamayānnamayāntaṃ kāryamāha hi || 394 ||

English translation of verse 2.394:

In order to impart that knowledge (of non-difference of Brahman and Ātman), the various modifications ending with the sheath formed of food are, indeed, stated.

Notes:

Śruti purports to convey the knowledge of the non-difference of Brahman and Ātman, and with a view to impart this knowledge it gives an account of the different sheaths starting from the ānandamaya-kośa and ending with the annamaya-kośa, which arc all modifications. Instruction about the nature of the sheaths is the means (upāya) for attaining Brahman-knowledge which is the end (upeya).
