Part 10 - Treatment for indigestion (8): Pashupata rasa
One part of mercury, two parts of sulphur, three parts of steel, and six parts of aconite are to be mixed together and subjected to bhavana with the decoction of roots of chitraka. The compound is then to be mixed with the following:—thirty-two parts of ashes of seeds of dhustura, three parts of trikatu, three parts of lavanga, three parts of ela, half a part of jatiphala, half a part of jatikosha, half a part of pancha lavana, half a part, each, of the alkalies prepared from snuhi, arka, eranda, tintiri, apamarga, ashvattha, and one part, each, of haritaki, javakshara, sarjikshara, hingu, jira and borax. All these are to be rubbed together with lime juice, and made into pills, one rakti in weight, each, to be taken after meal. This medicine cures loss of power of digestion and cholera. It is to be taken with the juice of mnsali, in udara-roga; with the exudation of shalmali in diarrhoea; with butter-milk and rock-salt in grahani; with sauvarchala-salt, pippali, and shunthi in colic; with buttermilk in piles; with pippali in diseases due to kapha; with shunthi and sauvarchala salt in diseases due to an excess of vayu; and with sugar and juice of dhanya in diseases due to an abnormal excess of pitta. This medicine increases appetite and power of digestion, and cures cholera very quickly.
