Source: Wisdom Library: Skanda-puranaHāṭakeśvarakṣetra (हाटकेश्वरक्षेत्र) or simply Hāṭakeśvara refers to the area around Vadnagar.—The Nāgara-khaṇḍa describes the sacredness and glory of Hāṭakeśvarakṣetra, the area around Vadnagar (Ahmedabad Dist., Gujarat). It is called by various names out of which Camatkārapura is more common.—Note: The editor of the Sanskrit Text informs in a footnote that this Hāṭakeśvara is in Badnagar in Gujarai; near this town is another town called “Uṃjhā" which is famous for the shrine of Umā.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences.
