Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationHṛdviddha (हृद्विद्ध) refers to a “wound in the heart”, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.2.40.—Accordingly, as Viṣṇu said to Brahmā and other Devas:—“[...] that lord [i.e., Śiva] has been wounded in the heart [i.e., hṛdviddha] by the wicked Dakṣa by harsh words. Crave the forgiveness of that lord who has lost his beloved now. O Brahman, this is the only remedy for tranquilising him, I think and also for pleasing him. I have mentioned that truth”.
