Source: WorldCat: Rāj nighaṇṭuJhaṇḍū (झण्डू) is the Sanskrit name for an unidentified medicinal plant, possibly identified with Tagetes erecta Linn. or “Mexican marygold” from the Asteraceae or ‘daisy’ family of flowering plants, according to verse 5.141 of the 13th-century Raj Nighantu or Rājanighaṇṭu.
Jhaṇḍū is mentioned as having three synonyms: Sthūlapuṣpā, Jhaṇḍūka and Jheṇḍūka.
Properties and characteristics: “Jhaṇḍū is pungent (kaṭu), astringent (kaṣāya) and febrifuge and said to be useful in alleviating the effects of bad souls (bhūtabādhā)”.
