Source: archive.org: Puranic EncyclopediaMahāgona (महागोन).—A river (Nada) celebrated in the Purāṇas. It is also known as "Śoṇabhadra" and Mahāśoṇa. It is after crossing this river that Kṛṣṇa, Bhīma and Arjuna entered Magadha, the capital of Jarāsandha. (Mahābhārata Sabhā Parva, Chapter 20, Verse 27).

The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences.
