Source: Asian Agri-History: Drumavichitrikaranam—The Ancient Approach to Plant MutagenesisOrganic Fertilizers refers to one of the modern applications which could benefit from ancient Indian agriculture, which presents a safe technology and methodology regarding organic agriculture and plant mutagenesis (druma-vichitrikaranam), according to treatises (such as the Vrikshayurveda).—Bio-fortification refers to fortification of plants with essential vitamins and minerals, so that these become easily available for human consumption. Bio-fortication can be enhanced by agronomic management by soil and foliar application of fertilizers. Based on the principles of drumavichitrikaranam, organic fertilizers may be formulated to stimulate bio-fortification.
