Source: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationRaṇasaṃsad (रणसंसद्) refers to the “battlefield”, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.4.8 (“The battle between the gods and Asuras”).—Accordingly, as Vīrabhadra said to Nārada: “O excellent sage, of great wisdom, listen to my weighty words. I will kill Tāraka. See my exploit today. The soldiers who bring their masters to the battlefield (raṇasaṃsad) are sinners. They are no better than eunuchs. They are doomed in the battle. They will go the way of the wicked. Hell is definitely in store for them. Vīrabhadra should never be considered by you as such a despicable person. [...]”.
