Vyakarana (Sanskrit grammar)
Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarṚdit (ऋदित्).—Possessed of the mute indicatory letter ऋ (ṛ), signifying in the Grammar of Pāṇini the prevention of the shortening of the long vowel in the reduplicated syllable of the Causal Aorist form of roots which are marked with it; e. g. अशशासत् अबबाधत्, अययाचत् (aśaśāsat ababādhat, ayayācat) etc. cf. नाग्लोपिशास्वृदिताम् (nāglopiśāsvṛditām) P.VII.4.2.
Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Vyakarana concerns itself with the rules of Sanskrit grammar and linguistic analysis in order to establish the correct context of words and sentences.
