Source: archive.org: The Elephant Lore of the HindusSaroma (सरोम) refers to the “hairy (bosses) (of elephants)”, according to the 15th century Mātaṅgalīlā composed by Nīlakaṇṭha in 263 Sanskrit verses, dealing with elephantology in ancient India, focusing on the science of management and treatment of elephants.—[Cf. chapter 2, “on favorable marks”]: “8. Whose backs have good spines well concealed (with flesh), long, and curved like bows, whose temporal bosses are hairy (saroma-kumbha) and (large) like the swelling breasts of a lovely woman, with broad ears. Jaw, navel, forehead, and pudenda, with copper-colored lip, palate, and tusks, such elephants are worthy of a king”.
Āyurveda (आयुर्वेद, ayurveda) is a branch of Indian science dealing with medicine, herbalism, taxology, anatomy, surgery, alchemy and related topics.
