This शवरस्वा-मिन् (śavarasvā-min) was comparatively a modern grammarian who was given the title बालयोगीश्वर (bālayogīśvara). This लिङ्गानुशासन (liṅgānuśāsana) has a commentary written by हृर्षवर्धन (hṛrṣavardhana) Evidently these grammarians शबरस्वामिन् (śabarasvāmin) and हृर्षवर्धन (hṛrṣavardhana) are different from the famous author of the मीमांसाभाष्य (mīmāṃsābhāṣya) and the patron of the poet Bana respectively.
Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas. Sanskrit, also spelled संस्कृतम् (saṃskṛtam), is an ancient language of India commonly seen as the grandmother of the Indo-European language family (even English!). Closely allied with Prakrit and Pali, Sanskrit is more exhaustive in both grammar and terms and has the most extensive collection of literature in the world, greatly surpassing its sister-languages Greek and Latin.
