Source: Wikisource: A dictionary of Sanskrit grammarŚaunakādi (शौनकादि).—A class of words headed by the word शौनक (śaunaka) to which the taddhita affix इन् (in) (णिनि (ṇini)) is added in the sense of 'instructed by', provided the word so formed is a portion of what is looked upon as a part of the sacred Vedic Literature; cf. शौनकेन प्रोक्तमधीयते शौनकिनः, वाजसनेयिनः (śaunakena proktamadhīyate śaunakinaḥ, vājasaneyinaḥ) cf Kas. on P.IV. 3.106.
Vyakarana (व्याकरण, vyākaraṇa) refers to Sanskrit grammar and represents one of the six additional sciences (vedanga) to be studied along with the Vedas.
