Shaktism (Shakta philosophy)
Source: Google Books: ManthanabhairavatantramṢoḍaśagranthi (षोडशग्रन्थि) refers to “sixteen knots”, according to the commentary on the Ṣaṭsāhasrasaṃhitā, an expansion of the Kubjikāmatatantra: the earliest popular and most authoritative Tantra of the Kubjikā cult.—Accordingly, “The Knot of the fifth Yoni possesses sixteen Knots [i.e., ṣoḍaśagranthi]. They should be placed within it, each in (their own) place as everything is pervaded by that (Yoni). That is the supreme plane (pada), which is attained as the sixteen syllables of the sacred seats. There they are the fourfold Yoni. What do they do? The first (Yoni) accomplishes the unfailing Command, the second, Kubjinī's abode, the third what is called the Vidyā of Power, and the fourth, the Divine Current”.
Shakta (शाक्त, śākta) or Shaktism (śāktism) represents a tradition of Hinduism where the Goddess (Devi) is revered and worshipped. Shakta literature includes a range of scriptures, including various Agamas and Tantras, although its roots may be traced back to the Vedas.
