Accordingly, “women who know the manners of departed kings, and have been honoured by them, and who know the character of all the members of the harem are said to be old dames (vṛddhā)”.
Natyashastra (नाट्यशास्त्र, nāṭyaśāstra) refers to both the ancient Indian tradition (shastra) of performing arts, (natya—theatrics, drama, dance, music), as well as the name of a Sanskrit work dealing with these subjects. It also teaches the rules for composing Dramatic plays (nataka), construction and performance of Theater, and Poetic works (kavya).

Source: WorldCat: Rāj nighaṇṭuSthavirā (स्थविरा) is another name for Mahāśrāvaṇī, an unidentified medicinal plant, according to verse 5.19-21 of the 13th-century Raj Nighantu or Rājanighaṇṭu. The fifth chapter (parpaṭādi-varga) of this book enumerates sixty varieties of smaller plants (kṣudra-kṣupa). Together with the names Sthavirā and Mahāśrāvaṇī, there are a total of eight Sanskrit synonyms identified for this plant.

[...] If they should be eclipsed when in the sign of Sagittarius (Dhanuṣa), ministers, fine horses, the Videhas, the Mallānas, the Pāñcālas, physicians, merchants and persons skilled in the use of destructive weapons will perish. Jyotisha (ज्योतिष, jyotiṣa or jyotish) refers to ‘astronomy’ or “Vedic astrology” and represents the fifth of the six Vedangas (additional sciences to be studied along with the Vedas). Jyotisha concerns itself with the study and prediction of the movements of celestial bodies, in order to calculate the auspicious time for rituals and ceremonies.

Shakta (शाक्त, śākta) or Shaktism (śāktism) represents a tradition of Hinduism where the Goddess (Devi) is revered and worshipped. Shakta literature includes a range of scriptures, including various Agamas and Tantras, although its roots may be traced back to the Vedas.

[...] He took the form of a very old man [i.e., sthavira] with the body of a brahmin. His brilliance shone. He was delighted in mind. He had an umbrella and a staff (to support Him). They were requested to remain in the world, protecting the Dharma for as long as beings are capable of benefitting from the teachings. They vowed at the time of the parinirvāṇa to remain in the world and maintain the Dharma until the time of the future Buddha Maitreya. To visualize the Buddha Shakyamuni surrounded by the Sixteen Arhats (or Sthaviras) and an assembly of Bodhisattvas generates great merit and quickly develops insight into the teachings of the Buddha.

They are the senior elders, the leaders of the thousands of arhats among the Buddha’s students. The term “elder” [gnas brtan; sthavira] means a senior monk [dge slong rgad po], but not every arhat was an elder. Young children were also included among the many students of the Buddha who reached the spiritual attainment of an arhat. The Sixteen Elders [gnas brtan bcu drug] will appear to gather whatever remains in this world of Buddha Śākyamuni’s teachings when the lifespan of human beings has increased to seven hundred years.
Mahayana (महायान, mahāyāna) is a major branch of Buddhism focusing on the path of a Bodhisattva (spiritual aspirants/ enlightened beings). Extant literature is vast and primarely composed in the Sanskrit language. There are many sūtras of which some of the earliest are the various Prajñāpāramitā sūtras.

Three divisions were named as a result (all in Ceylon): 1. Mahaviharavasinah 2. Jetavaniyah 3. Abhayagiri vasinah In the course, the eighteen Hinayana sects were developed. From the time of Ashoka, four principal school are regarded as prevailing: 1. Mahasanghika 2. Sthavira 3. Mulasarvastivada 4. Sammatiyah As far as Sthavira is concerned, there are eleven sects reckoned. The Sthaviravadins were reputed as nearest to early Buddhism in its tenets, though it is said to have changed the basis of Buddhism from an agonostic system to a realist philosophy.

Jainism is an Indian religion of Dharma whose doctrine revolves around harmlessness (ahimsa) towards every living being. The two major branches (Digambara and Svetambara) of Jainism stimulate self-control (or, shramana, ‘self-reliance’) and spiritual development through a path of peace for the soul to progess to the ultimate goal.
