Suruci (सुरुचि).—A wife of Uttānapāda. Svāyambhuva Manu had two sons called Priyavrata and Uttānapāda. Uttānapāda married Suruci and Sunīti. A son called Uttama was born to Suruci and to Sunīti was born Dhruva, (For details see under Dhruva).

Suruci (सुरुचि) or Mahāruci (son of Ruci and father of Patāpa) is the name of an ancient king from the Solar dynasty (sūryavaṃśa) and a descendant of Mahāsaṃmata, according to the Mahābuddhavaṃsa or Maha Buddhavamsa (the great chronicle of Buddhas) Anudīpanī chapter 1, compiled by Ven. Mingun Sayadaw.
