Source: archive.org: Puranic EncyclopediaVāruṇahrada (वारुणह्रद).—A lake of God Varuṇa. It is mentioned in Mahābhārata, Udyoga Parva, Chapter 98, Stanza 18, that the god Agni (Fire) always shines in this lake.
The Purana (पुराण, purāṇas) refers to Sanskrit literature preserving ancient India’s vast cultural history, including historical legends, religious ceremonies, various arts and sciences.
