Vāsudevamūrtilakṣaṇa (वासुदेवमूर्तिलक्षण) refers to the “rules relating to (the mantras addressed to) Vāsudeva”, as discussed in the fifth chapter of the Nāradīyasaṃhitā: a Pāñcarātra document comprising over 3000 verses in 30 chapters presenting in a narrative framework the teachings of Nārada to Gautama, dealing primarily with modes of worship and festivals.—Description of the chapter [matsyādimūrti-lakṣaṇa-vidhāna]: Gautama [sic] continues his treatment of mantras to various aspects of the deity—much as in the preceding chapter—here turning to [e.g., Vāsudeva (Yādava-Kṛṣṇa)—vāsudevamūrtilakṣaṇa, 65-76a] [...]. After counseling to keep these secret and away from the uninitiated, he briefly tells of the pāñcopaniṣad-mantra and those addressed to the parivāra-deities (84-98a).
