Source: Shodhganga: Study of the ancillary literature of the atharvaveda the special reference to the parisistasVidikputra (विदिक्पुत्र) refers to the “sub-planets in the sub-quarters”, according to the Atharvaveda Pariśiṣṭa 52.—Also see Grahaputra (“sub-planets”) which belong to the various planets and gods and are about a thousand in number.
The Vidikputra (sub-planets in the sub-quarters) are:
-) The south-east has five sub-planets which are yellowish red in colour and which have no lustre.
-) The south-west has two sub-planets which are yellowish red in colour;
-) The north-west has one subplanet of the same colour.
-) The north-east has one sub-planet white-red in colour, and it shines brightly at the time of twilight. If it is not far away from the Sun and is glossy, it indicates rain and freedom from fear.
Note: Another source (Atharvaveda Pariśiṣṭa 52.5.2-8.4), which is less systematic, gives the number of sub-planets rather differently and states that the sub-planets indicate mild results when near the Moon and terrible results when near the Sun.
Vedic Hinduism refers to traditional Brahmanism adhering to the vast literature known as Shruti, including the four Vedas, the Brahmanas (interpretation and commentaries) and Upanishads (philosophical discourses) as well as a variety of appendices known as Sutras.
