Source: ORA: Amanaska (king of all yogas): A Critical Edition and Annotated Translation by Jason BirchVināvalamba (विनावलम्ब) refers to “being without the support” (of an object of focus), according to the Amanaska Yoga treatise dealing with meditation, absorption, yogic powers and liberation.—Accordingly, as Īśvara says to Vāmadeva: “[...] He whose gaze is steady without [any] visible object, whose breath is steady without effort, whose mind is steady without the support (vināvalamba) [of an object of focus], he alone is a Yogin. He is a guru. He is worthy of service. [...]”.
