Viṣṇusampradāya (विष्णुसम्प्रदाय) refers to “Viṣṇu’s tradition”, as discussed in chapter 4 of the (first part of the) Śāṇḍilyasaṃhitā: a Pāñcarātra text comprising 3600 Sanskrit verses dealing with devotion towards Kṛṣṇa who is identified with the Supreme, as well as ethical behavior and pious practices to be observed by devotees (bhaktas).—Description of the chapter [tripurāri-sampradāya-nirūpaṇa]: This chapter turns to an explanation of how even what Śiva [e.g., Tripurāri] teaches from Viṣṇu—that even Śiva’s dance was one of joy at hearing the marvellous sound of the Lord Kṛṣṇa Himself playing the lute. Śāṇḍilya got his knowledge of the Viṣṇusampradāya directly from Kṛṣṇa (1-30).
