Viśrambhaṇa (विश्रम्भण) refers to the “confidence (of trained hawks)”, according to the Śyainika-śāstra: a Sanskrit treatise dealing with the divisions and benefits of Hunting and Hawking, written by Rājā Rudradeva (or Candradeva) in possibly the 13th century.—Accordingly, “[Hunting by Hawking] is to be practised in various ways, namely, by inspiring the hawks with confidence (viśrambhaṇa), by observing their characteristics and by practising the different ways of throwing or casting them. The casting is of two kinds—Hastamoka and Muṣṭimoka. [...]”.
